The installer can download its distributions/application via the internet, but it can also be bundled with a predefined application set for creating a disc release, ...
This mini-howto will explain, how to create a tgz file containing a complete application.
Step 1:
Create a temp directory (let's call it temp/).
Step 2:
Copy the corresponding distribution.xml, application.xml and packages.xml into it.
Step 3:
Now copy all compressed package archives into it.
Step 4:
Go into the temp dir and create a new archive.
czonsius@linux:/> cd temp czonsius@linux:/> tar czf my_application-1.0.tgz .
Step 5:
For creating an installer with a predefined application, simply copy the my_application-1.0.tgz into the /installer/data/archives/ directory of a fresh installer. The next time, the installer gets executed, it will install your distribution / application / packages.
