PackageNet is supposed to become an open peer-to-peer network for annotation and distribution of software packages. The aim is to allow software administrators to easily search for packages, as well as for software developers to deploy their source code.

- scalable architecture of distributions, applications, packages
- server-side application for peer-to-peer distribution of metadata
- client-side GUI for retrieval, download, and installation (only PHP currently)
